Moving a garment program from China to Pakistan

A garment program made in China was getting squeezed by new tariffs and rising factory costs. I identified candidate factories in Pakistan, screened them, and visited the shortlist in person.

After qualifying the supplier that fit the product and volumes, I stayed through sampling, the first production orders, and the handoff from the old supplier. Landed cost came in about 30% below what the company had been paying.

Fiber-optic breakout kits for data centers

The kit combines custom molded parts, purchased components, and final assembly, with several suppliers involved. I work with the engineering and industrial design teams, get CAD files to mold makers and component suppliers, and manage samples and revisions through assembly, packaging, and shipment.

The goal is a kit that can be built repeatedly from a documented specification, rather than a string of one-off samples.

Custom molded parts, from quotes to production

A buyer had quotations for custom molded components that couldn’t be compared. They disagreed on tool ownership, resin, tolerances, sampling, and the cost of design changes.

I put the quotations on the same basis, challenged the assumptions, and got tooling and sample terms in writing. The company chose a supplier knowing its full tooling commitment before a purchase order went out. I then followed the tooling into production parts.

Flight-testing an agricultural spray drone

Before recommending a supplier for an eight-rotor spray drone, I had the factory fly it. A drone sitting in a showroom tells you very little. Watching it fly over the factory roof told us more than the specification sheet did.

Testing a block machine for a nonprofit

A nonprofit working in the Central African Republic needed a manual concrete block machine and had only a brochure to go on. I went to the manufacturer, ran the machine, and checked the blocks it made before the buyer paid for it.
